FINLAY CHRISTIE ANNOUNCED AS AEO PEOPLE’S AWARDS 2024 HOST
The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) is pleased to announce Finlay Christie as the celebrity host for the AEO People's Awards, taking place on the evening of the AEO Forums, on the 26th of January 2024, at the Business Design Centre in London.
This event is dedicated to recognising the incredible talent on the ground, from junior to middle-management event professionals in marketing, ops, sales and beyond.
At 19, Christie became the youngest ever winner of the prestigious, So You Think You’re Funny competition, following in the footsteps of Peter Kay, Lee Mack and Sarah Millican. 3 years later, his debut Edinburgh show “OK Zoomer” was nominated for NextUp’s “Best Show” award. His material, based around his experience as a Gen Z, led Chortle to describe him as “the voice of his generation”.
He has appeared on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4), The Stand-Up Sketch Show (ITV2), The BBC New Comedy Awards, Get Off My Phone! (Dave) and Jokes Only An AI Can Tell (Channel 4). He has performed at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival and across Europe for the Comedy Store.
Chris Skeith OBE, the chief executive of AEO, said: "We've had some great laughs at the office while reviewing potential hosts for the AEO People's Awards. Our criteria were clear: we sought someone energetic who would really resonate with our audience. Finlay definitely has these qualities and more – he’ll set the perfect tone for the evening."
Skeith added, "We look forward to seeing the deserving winners join our host on stage in January to receive their well-earned trophies. We extend our gratitude to all those who've already nominated some outstanding event professionals. The deadline for submissions is October 30th, so there's still time. Best of luck!"
