EnergyNet is a multiple award-winning producer of investment conferences for Africa’s energy sector. Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, the longest running Forum for decision makers in Africa’s power sector, EnergyNet also produces region-specific investment meetings focusing on the power generation potential of some of the world’s most exciting emerging markets. Recent event locations include Nairobi, Barcelona, Miami, Cape Town, Brussels, Washington, Zimbabwe and Arusha. Within EnergyNet sits the YES! portfolio. The YES! mission is to electrify a continent of one billion people, by engaging 10% in the conversation. YES! has taken on the mission to build a network of 100 million people by 2035. YES! is a programme designed to empower the next generation to succeed. It will empower young people in the energy sector by developing the network, connections, knowledge, and training needed to become employed and take on the task of electrifying the continent, it will also open doors for young entrepreneurs for whom electricity is an inhibitor of their business to thrive with their business plans. YES! will do this through a combination of live events and online offerings through the Beyond Privilege networking platform, which was launched in June 2023 and currently has over 13,000 members. This number is constantly growing.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional administrative and organizational support to the production team for the Africa portfolio of events, including the flagship Africa Energy Forum in Nairobi, ensuring seamless event execution.
  • Assist the YES! team in planning and delivering the YES! Summit and related events, managing logistics for over 250 speakers to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support the planning and execution of smaller regional conferences in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Togo, and other locations, offering high-level administrative assistance to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Professionally and promptly communicate with confirmed speakers, including government ministers and C-suite executives, to facilitate their participation in events.
  • Coordinate with confirmed speakers to ensure they are registered, receive event materials, and are well-prepared for their speaking engagements.
  • Maintain accurate records of speaker information in the database, utilizing returned registration details to support efficient event delivery.
  • Use the EnergyNet registration system to manage speaker registrations, update information, and process photos, ensuring all data is accurately organized and accessible.
  • Take ownership of updating the event website with the latest agenda and speaker details, ensuring information is current and accessible to attendees.
  • Support and occasionally lead additional projects related to conferences and events, such as networking sessions, fundraising events, and targeted workshops.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and operations teams to prepare and deliver events to an exceptionally high standard, contributing to a positive attendee experience.

  • Strong Administration Skills: Passionate about delivering high-quality work through effective administrative support and efficient processes.
  • Project Management: Skilled in project management, capable of handling multiple tasks and ensuring timely completion of event-related activities.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Possesses strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage and assist speakers and attendees professionally.
  • Effective Communication: Confident in engaging with people both over the phone and in person, with a natural ability to build rapport and long-lasting relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: A strong team player who can work effectively with others to deliver high-standard events, both in the planning stages and onsite during the events.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Able to maintain composure and work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines, ensuring successful event outcomes.
  • Cultural and Sector Understanding: Demonstrates an interest in Africa’s energy and infrastructure sector, with a willingness to learn and adapt to the industry’s unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Willingness to Travel: Open to traveling as needed to support the successful delivery of events across different locations.
  • Language Skills (Desirable): Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Portuguese, or Spanish would be an advantage.
  • Experience in Africa and Energy Sector (Desirable): Previous experience working in Africa or within the energy sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
